General:

California Digifant II models have a Check Engine Light Switch, which, when pressed, will flash fault codes (see the Engine Management section for instructions).

Golf GL:

Changes from last year:
Golf renamed Golf GL to strengthen it's position above the new Fox.
New velour interior.
Diesel models dropped after a short run in the USA, but remains in Canada through 1992.
The old sealed-beam headlights are dropped; now all Golfs share their front end with the GTI and Jetta.

Changes from last year:
Last year of TD in US, and diesel is suspended until 1990. Both diesels still available in Canada through 1992.
First models roll out of USA plant, up to this point all Jettas are German built. GLI, diesel, and 2 door models remain solely German built through 1992.
Digifant II engines make their debut late into the year: RV (100hp) in Jetta and Jetta GL (single downpipe). A Check Engine Button is included on California models.
